When it comes to dieting, it seems as if everybody’s an expert, despite the fact that they tend to not possess any qualifications or credentials in the slightest. Ask some people what you should do to lose weight, and they’ll be adamant that you need to avoid eating carbohydrates late in the evening before bed. Other know it all’s however, will swear that in fact, carbohydrates are perfectly acceptable before bed, proving you get them from the right source. Opinions are like noses, everybody has one, yet just because somebody has an opinion on a matter, that doesn’t make it a fact. Generally speaking however, we know the basics of dieting right? That we should eat healthy and do more exercise in order to lose weight? Well, despite knowing the basics, many people tend to make very common mistakes when it comes to dieting, which should be avoided at all costs.
Starving themselves during the day – One of the most common mistakes that dieters tend to make, is starving themselves during the day, and waiting all day so that they can have a large dinner instead. The dinner may very well be healthy, but when you pile your plate full like a mountain of food, your metabolism will struggle to break it all down. In order to help your metabolism run at full capacity, you should instead eat several small and healthy meals throughout the day, that way your metabolism has a constant supply of calories which can then be burnt off to provide more energy, allowing you to burn even more fat.
Not drinking enough water – Water is the natural life bringer, without it, there would be no life anywhere. As well as that, the human body is also composed of almost 80% water, so those should tell you just how beneficial water actually is. Despite this, people always moan and complain about how they don’t like water, even though water has no taste! Water helps keep us hydrated, it provides our bodies, and the cells inside of our bodies with energy, it quenches our thirst, and much more on top of that. Aim to drink at least 2.5 litres of water a day, preferably mineral or filtered.
Eating so called “healthy” frozen ready meals – Another common mistake that people trying to lose weight tend to make, is seeing the words “healthy” or “diet” written on the side of a cardboard carton, and then taking that as gospel and buying it, microwaving it at home, and eating it, thinking they’re being healthy. I could write “healthy” down the side of a stick of lard, but it doesn’t make it true, but because powerful advertisers and markers do so with their products, people believe them. These frozen micro meals may be low fat, but to make up for this, they’re pumped full of water, salt, sugar, and other artificial ingredients and preservatives designed to enhance the taste. Not only that, but once you get them out of the microwave, they’re nothing but soggy piles of food, so what’s so nice about that? Fresh and healthy natural food should win everytime.
