The diet itself has two main features: IT focuses on HCG supplementation, and it drastically restricts our daily calorie intake by around just 500 and 800 calories. It is described as a very-low calorie diet and one which is not for the faint hearted.

So how does it work? – As mentioned, this is a slightly more radical diet plan and it is one which should only be carried out under medical supervision by those who are deadly serious about losing weight and getting in shape. Each day, people on the diet will consume just two whole food meals that are between 250 and 300 calories each. Each meal is identical to the last in order to ensure that calorie content remains consistent. Dieters do not consume breakfast and they cannot snack in between meals or drink anything other than water. Just to give an idea of the amount of calories being consumed, those following the HCG diet will be consuming the equivalent of one low-calorie meal every day, with nothing else. Here’s where the HCG part comes into play. Those following the diet will receive one 125 iu injection of HCG a day. This injection of the hormone is designed to suppress appetite and hunger cravings, so that the extremely low calorie intake doesn’t leave them constantly feeling hungry and craving food. It is a diet which must only be undertaken under strict medical supervision.
