Eat Eggs to Improve Heart Health

Eat Eggs to Improve Heart HealthOver the last few decades, eggs have received a great deal of undeserved negative press, and for that reason it’s about time things were cleared up once and for all. Many years ago, there were reports that eggs raised cholesterol levels, which people thought was a bad thing. If they’d done a little more research however, they would have learned that there are actually two types of cholesterol found in our bodies. LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol. LDL cholesterol is the one causing all of the problems as it can lead to poor circulation, increased blood pressure, and even a significant risk of heart attack and stroke. LDL cholesterol is referred to as “bad” cholesterol. On the flipside however, we have HDL cholesterol HDL cholesterol is referred to as “good” cholesterol as it is actually very beneficial for us and it even helps to reduce bad cholesterol levels. Eggs do indeed raise cholesterol levels, but the cholesterol levels they raise are the HDL good cholesterol levels, which is extremely healthy. In order for us to consume enough eggs for our bad cholesterol levels to be raised, we’d need to be eating in excess of 20 eggs a day. Eggs have been proven to be healthy nd beneficial for the heart, and much more on top of that.

Eggs can actually help protect against heart disease and attacks – One of the biggest causes of heart attacks is a person’s bad cholesterol levels being too high. This cholesterol manifests itself as fatty deposits and build ups in the blood vessels. As more builds up not only is circulation reduced, but they can actually calcify overtime, which can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular disease. As we mentioned, eggs actually raise a person’s good cholesterol profile, which in turn helps to reduce harmful cholesterol levels. Less harmful cholesterol means less chance of heart problems.

Eggs are a great source of protein – Protein is crucial for the repair and growth of muscle tissue, and the good news is that eggs are a fantastic source. Protein is in fact described as the building blocks of the entire human body, so that alone should show you how beneficial it can be. One single egg contains around 6 grams of protein and all of the essential amino acids that the body requires. Essential amino acids are amino acids that the body cannot naturally produce, meaning they need to be consumed by us. This controlled amount of protein can aid in muscle growth, weight loss, brain function, lower blood pressure, and much more on top of that.

They’re hugely nutritious – When we think of healthy and nutritious food, we tend to think of fresh fruits and vegetables. Well, whilst they are indeed incredibly healthy and nutritious, so are eggs. Eggs contain vitamins A, D, E, K, B vitamins, Folates, and a selection of minerals including zinc, calcium, selenium, and phosphorus. They also contain healthy fats as well, making them one of the most nutritionally balanced foods on the planet. Plus they taste great too, so what’s not to like?
