We probably consider any green foods at the store to be the food source for the food we eat. I.E grass is green, cows eat grass and we eat cows, usually in the form of steaks. We tend to favor our meat, beer and junk food. Although they can taste pretty great, many of these are simply not healthy or good for us in the slightest. Just to understand like all things in life, if it tastes nice, it’s probably not good for us.
There are a number of extremely healthy foods which are jam-packed full of natural goodness and taste pretty darn good too. If it’s a natural green color then it’s probably very good for us. Occasional treat is perfectly acceptable but we should try our best to incorporate healthy green foods into our diets. Many green foods which taste great and are extremely healthy. Knowing which ones qualify as being the best of the best, can be pretty tricky.
When people talk about ‘Super Foods’ Broccoli is one of the very first foods mentioned, and for good reason too. Broccoli is another green food packed full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which have been proven to detoxify our bodies. It help to prevent and destroy free radicals which can cause oxidization to occur in our cells. Which can cause them to mutate, often turning cancerous. Broccoli contains a lot of iron and zinc. Both of which are great for our blood. Broccoli is especially high in b vitamins, which possess a number of health benefits. Simply put, broccoli is one of the healthiest foods you could ever eat, and it tastes pretty great too.
The great thing about spinach is that when you cook it, you can actually increase health benefits that it possesses as a super green food. The reason for this is because the body struggles to break down and absorb the nutrients contained within raw spinach. Spinach is rich in vitamins and minerals, especially iron, which is great for the blood. Iron helps our red blood cells to transport oxygen around the body. Ever wonder why blood smells like rust or tastes like rusty metal when you taste it, if you cut your lip for example? The reason is because of all of the iron it contains. Spinach is also rich in folic acid and multivitamins including vitamin K.
Kale is widely considered the healthiest green food on the entire planet, and that’s no exaggeration either. Kale is one of, if not the most nutrient dense food source pound for pound. So getting enough into your diet can be extremely beneficial. It’s rich in vitamins, including vitamin K which can help prevent diseases such as Alzheimer’s and cancer. The other vitamins strengthen the immune system and the fiber and minerals help our digestion, joints, muscles. They can even help lower blood pressure and bad cholesterol. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s also a great anti-inflammatory, so it can prevent muscle soreness and painful headaches.
