Using Coconut Oil to Burn Belly Fat

Coconut Oil to Burn Belly Fat

As we’re now into January, many of us will still be feeling the effects of overindulging over the holiday season, and will perhaps be struggling to boost our fitness and lose any excess fat we may have gained over the festive season. Losing body fat is certainly not easy, and it takes a great deal of time and effort until you begin to see true noticeable results but did you know coconut oil can help you to burn belly fat.

Coconut Oil to burn belly fat

For many people, when they begin a new weight loss regime which often focuses on a new healthy eating plan and a change in diet and activity, for the first few weeks, as their bodies become so shocked by the change in routine, they see pretty dramatic weight loss results, and manage to lose a fair amount of fat. As the body becomes so used to the entire process however, it becomes much more stubborn, and weight loss progress begins to slow down more and more. Because of this, often a little extra help is needed, perhaps in the form of a health supplement or ingredient.

One substance which is proving to be extremely effective at burning off belly fat, or any fat for that matter, is coconut oil.

increases your metabolism

In order to lose weight, we simply need to burn off more calories than we consume. The more we burn off, the more weight we lose. Calories are burnt off by the metabolism, and converted into energy. Coconut oil has been proven to increase the amount of energy we expend, thus forcing the metabolism to increase in order to keep supplying energy for the body. Coconut oil contains medium chain triglycerides, or MCT’s for short, and it is these compounds which have been shown to increase the amount of energy that the body uses up. On average, consuming between 20 and 30 grams of these MCT’s has been proven to burn off an extra 120 calories every single day.

It is a natural appetite suppressant

When we’re hungry, we tend to crave  unhealthy foods like those that are naturally high in fat, sugar, salt that offer no benefits or nutritional value in the slightest. That’s why experts recommend going grocery shopping on a full stomach so you will be less likely to fill your basket full of fatty junk food. Even if we eat healthy, we still consume calories and if we consume more than we can burn off, the body stores them as fat. Coconut oil however, contains essential fatty acids, which have been proven to help curb hunger pains, reduce cravings for junk food, and to help keep us feeling full for longer.

Coconut oil is especially effective at reducing abdominal fat

Experts aren’t quite sure exactly why this is, but there is strong evidence to suggest that coconut oil is especially effective at targeting and burning off abdominal belly fat. Not only is belly fat unsightly but it is also the most dangerous location as it puts unnecessary strain on your major organs. Studies have been conducted on both men, and women, with large amounts of belly fat, and these studies concluded that as little as 30 ml of coconut oil per day, added to their regular daily diet over a 4 week period, was enough to lower both groups’ BMI’s and to reduce the amount of fat around their waists by between 1 and 2 inches on average. That was with no extra dieting, or no extra exercise, just an extra 30ml of coconut oil.
