With so many people these days constantly worrying about their weight, it’s no wonder that we see so-called “diet” products on the shelves of stores all over the world. So if you are looking to kick start your health with a clean eating diet plan there are a few things you want to consider before you get started.
Because there are currently more obese individuals living in this world than ever before, experts are warning people that if they don’t change their diets, they run the risk of becoming seriously ill, and possibly even losing their lives. As a result of this, more and more people are cleaning up their diet in a bid to become fitter and healthier.
Some people are taking things one step further however, and are actually exercising several times per week in a bid to lose fat, build lean muscle mass, and just generally improve their physiques.
As a result of this, they follow strict low-fat, super clean diets that contain nothing but healthy, natural produce. Although they may think that eating in this way is beneficial for their health and well-being. In reality eating super clean foods can actually be detrimental to their health, and their physiques in general.
One common side effect associated with consuming super clean foods is the fact that as they often contain virtually no fat at all, and as they’re very low in calories, then their metabolism actually slow down, meaning not only will they struggle to lose weight, but they will also actually have much less energy than usual, as the metabolism will simply have nothing to convert into glucose. As a result of this, these people will feel tired, sluggish, and lethargic and won’t actually feel like doing a great deal.
Another drawback associated with consuming super clean foods is the fact that we actually need some fat in our diets, it’s just a case of knowing which fats we should be consuming. People think that in order to keep their body fat levels down, that they should steer clear of all fats altogether. In reality it’s trans fats and saturated fats which are the harmful fats, and mono and polyunsaturated fats which are the good fats. These healthy fats are found within oily fish such as salmon and mackerel, as well as in natural olive oil, avocados, and a variety of different nuts and seeds. These fats boost the metabolism, help with brain function, and much more on top of that.
We won’t benefit from all of the nutrients we think we’re consuming. Again, going back to the healthy fats part of things, another reason why super clean foods aren’t always as great for us in huge amounts as we may have hoped is the fact that without some fat in our bodies, we won’t actually be able to benefit from all of the nutrients we think we’re consuming. Some vitamins are only fat soluble, which means that they can only be broken down and processed in the presence of fat. Without the fat, we don’t benefit from the vitamins.
