NCAA BCS Title Game Set – Selection Sunday Reveals Bowl ScheduleFlorida State, the nation’s only unbeaten team, will face 12-1 Auburn, champions of the SEC, in the VIZIO NCAA BCS Title Game game to be played on Jan. 6 in Pasadena, Calif.

The top-ranked Seminoles defeated Duke, 45-7, in the ACC championship on Saturday. Quarterback Jameis Winston, the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, passed for 330 yards and four touchdowns. Florida State will have the opportunity to win its first national title since 1999.

Auburn completed a miraculous turnaround under first-year head coach Gus Malzahn, who had previously served as offensive coordinator on the 2010 Tigers’ team that won the national championship. Auburn beat Missouri, 59-42, in the SEC title game to cap one of the most dramatic seasons in all of college football.

A team from the SEC has won the national championship in each of the past seven seasons. Alabama, which was beaten by Auburn in the Iron Bowl, has won three of the last four. Auburn gives the conference its eighth straight representative in the title game.

The rest of the bowl schedule was released Sunday also and there are some intriguing match ups, especially in the BCS bowl games. Alabama, which finished No. 3 in the final BCS poll, will meet No. 11 Oklahoma in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Two of the most storied football programs in the country, the Sooners and the Crimson Tide have played each other only four times. Their last meeting was in 2003, an Alabama 20-13 victory.

Ohio State, which fell from No.2 to No. 7 as a result of their loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten championship game, will face No. 12 Clemson in the Discover Orange Bowl. It will be the 10th BCS bowl game that the Buckeyes have played in, an NCAA record.

No. 6 Baylor, champions of the Big 12, will face Central Florida, the winner of the new American Athletic Conference, in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

It’s a traditional Big 10 – Pac-12 match up in the the Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO as No. 4 Michigan State will play No. 5 Stanford. It will be the Spartans first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1987.

For the first time in five years, the Oregon Ducks miss out on a BCS bowl game. Oregon, which finished ranked No. 10, along with eighth-ranked Missouri and ninth-ranked South Carolina, are the highest ranked teams to be left out of the BCS bowl picture.
