Working hard to drop fat requires considerable determination. As we’ve all been told a million times before, you cannot spot reduce any area. The body will “pull” from fat stores in a more or less even fashion, all over the body. A fat rear end won’t slim up faster by doing more squats and leg presses. Similarly, belly fat, which is something that plagues nearly everyone, will not go away by doing additional sit ups or crunches. What works best is a mix of consistent full-body weights and cardio to reduce weight all over the body, taking fat with it as the pounds drop away. However, for stubborn belly fat that is slow to go away (usually those last 5 to 10 pounds), a simple natural compound may help accelerate results.
Safflower oil, which became popular as a cooking oil in the late 80s and early 90s, has recently been shown in studies to help the body target belly fat. Apparently, it helps increase metabolic rate; regulates cortisol and other hormones that distribute fat to the belly; and helps reduce inflammation throughout the body, getting rid of that feeling of “bloat” or “fullness.” The methods by which safflower oil works are still not completely understood, but in studies, participants taking a safflower or conjugated linoleic acid (CLA – a chemically similar compound to safflower oil) reported weight loss of up to 7 pounds and/or a 1-inch reduction in waist size. To test the power of safflower oil for yourself, consider switching out your regular cooking oil or salad oil with safflower. It is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, so it offers many of the same benefits as other healthy oils like olive oil… but may also deliver the additional benefit of targeted fat reduction. You can also try CLA or safflower oil supplements (available in health food and supplement stores).
