Many of us wish to be as healthy as we can possibly be, yet some of us simply aren't blessed with the luxury of the gift of time. Many of us wake up in a morning, hop into the shower, get dressed, quickly eat some breakfast if we’re lucky, and out we go, walking back in through the door around 8 or 9 hours later. For that reason, we simply don’t have the time to cook healthy fresh foods, but fear not, because there are healthy frozen foods you can eat that give your bodies everything they need while still remaining low in fat and high in natural goodness.

Fresh frozen vegetables – As far as healthy foods are concerned, you’d be hard pressed to find anything healthier than fresh vegetables. Vegetables are naturally low in fat, and naturally rich in a whole variety of natural goodness, including vitamins, antioxidants, fibre, and minerals. Now, when people hear the words ‘frozen foods’ they automatically think of unhealthy ready meals pumped full of fat, salt, and artificial preservatives and additives. As far as vegetables are concerned, the only preservative that is used is water, which is then frozen, which is nature’s natural preservative. Many vegetables are picked or harvested, quickly washed and chopped, and then frozen and bagged up, all within a matter of hours. Nothing fake, nothing unnatural, and plenty of healthy goodness.

Frozen seafood – Frozen seafood is absolutely ideal because it allows you to store the food for long periods of time, ready to use as you need. If you were to buy fresh seafood, you’d need to use it within 2 days for fear of it going bad and making you ill. Frozen seafood keeps in the freezer for months upon months, can be defrosted a few hours in advance, and still delivers all of the healthy goodness you’d get from fresh seafood. Seafood is rich in protein, contains omega 3’s, contains minerals including zinc, and is naturally low in fat, especially saturated fat.

Frozen fruits – Fruit is also extremely healthy for us as it is rich in vitamins and antioxidants, including vitamin C which is crucial for a healthy immune system. fresh frozen fruits are ideal because they still contain all of it's goodness, with no artificial preservatives or flavorings. Most ideal of all, is that they keep in the freezer for months upon months, where as fresh fruit such as mixed berries, would begin to go bad after 2 or 3 days, leaving you with a mushy moldy mess in your fridge after a few days. Frozen fruits however, keep for ages, are rich in vitamins, and can be defrosted within a couple of hours at room temperature.
