Exercise can be difficult to fit in the working man’s schedule. If waking up at the crack of dawn to work out doesn’t appeal to you or if you get home so late that working out is off the table there is still hope for you. We have found a few common setbacks (aka excuses) many men have for skipping their workout and simple fixes to help you get in an after work workout.
• The gym is too crowded after work: If you’re pressed for time the last thing you want to do is wait around for a cardio machine or weight equipment. If you find this being the case try using another machine that does the same function. For example if you want a treadmill but none are available try a stationary bike, elliptical or step machine until a treadmill opens up.
• I don’t have time for weights and cardio: If you don’t have time to do your cardio and weight workouts separately try combining them. You can run with light weights or do a weight circuit with cardio exercises. Both are great ways to build strength and endurance at the same time.
• I have a young family and want to spend time with my kids: Family time is most definitely important. A great way for young fathers to workout with their young children is a jogging stroller. Make sure and get one with durable locking wheels and you can get a good cardio burn while bonding with your little one.
• I want to watch my favorite show/ the game is on: Say hello to the world of TIVO’s and DVR’s. Now almost every cable company has a device that allows you to record your favorite shows and watch them at a time that’s convenient for you. So that means you don’t have to skip out on your after work workout to catch the game or your fav show. Just program your DVR in advance or do it from your smart phone. As an added bonus you’ll save a ton of time by fast forwarding through all of those commercials.
