First of all, an orgasm is a great stress reliever. You probably already new that, but think of all of the heath conditions that are stress related. Everything from your blood pressure to how fast your cells age can be affected by your stress level. But relieving tension is just one way that orgasms can lengthen your lifespan.
After sex, you no doubt notice that you get sleepy. That’s because your blood pressure gets lower immediately following an orgasm. Between that and the anxiety relief, you’ve got the combination you need for a good night’s rest. Sleeping through the night is a necessity for both your physical and your mental health.
When you reach climax, your body releases chemicals called endorphins that make you feel good. An orgasm is basically nature’s antidepressant. Other hormones are also released which can help to improve your overall outlook on life, and being positive is good for you health.
During an orgasm, you breath deeper and muscles contract all over your body. This is good for your blood flow in general. Having a fresh supply of oxygen all over is good for your cells. It can even make your muscles stronger from the contractions now that’s some orgasm health benefits.
Something else that is released in your body when you have an orgasm is oxytocin. This is an opiate that your body creates. Thus, having an orgasm can help to relieve pain.
Orgasms are also good for the immune system. DHEA, another chemical released when you reach climax helps to keep your immune system running more efficiently. In fact, research is being performed to see if there is a connection between orgasms and the prevention of prostate cancer.
So how many orgasms do you need to be having to get all of these benefits and more? One famous health practitioner has suggested about 200 per year. It’s a great reason to get into a committed relationship and spend a lot of time in the bedroom together. Don’t feel like you have to hit 200 exactly. It’s not an exact science. Just know that orgasm health benefits are plentiful and the bottom line is they are good for you, and it is tough to have too much of a good thing.
