Far beyond a tongue stud or nipple piercing, genitalia private piercings areas take sexual exploration to a whole new level. Things to keep in mind before you get piercings in your private areas.
Unfortunately, they also take the risk of infection and complications to a higher plane as well. Because intimate areas often harbor bacteria, moisture and heat, the site is a ripe breeding ground for undesirable microbes. As well, because these are routinely exposed to friction and pulling forces, they can create miniscule tears and wounds in skin – upping the risk of disease transmission, including HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea and others.
Besides that, there are a number of complications that come with the piercing act itself. For instance, in a Prince Albert piercing, a bar or ring pierces the tip of your manhood, goes through the urethra and exits at the underside of the organ where the tip meets the shaft. Although it sounds painful, it’s actually thin, yet strong, tissue that pierces easily with relatively little pain. The problem comes with the area being pierced – the urethra. In men, this thin tube is exposed to urine and semen. Although both fluids are sterile, the piercing can impede normal flow out of the body and led to uncomfortable urinary tract infections.
In women, piercings down there may enhance sensation, but because of its location, partially obscured by the labia, the piercing must be removed, and the piercing site and jewelry cleaned and sanitized frequently to prevent bacterial or fungal infection. Such infections, if left untreated, can lead to partial or complete loss of sensation, which greatly diminishes sexual satisfaction.
As with all piercings, it is important to choose a reputable professional to perform. The facility should be clean and sanitary, including all equipment, and jewelry in sealed packaging. Staff members, should, of course, wear gloves. Additionally, any member of the staff should be willing to discuss potential risks or side effects with you prior to the procedure. If they seems unwilling to talk things over or seem uninformed about such topics, your best bet is to find another parlor.
